Mr. Ackerman has represented injured workers and accident victims since 1987. He has argued cases before the appellate courts of Maryland and Virginia, including a reported case he won before the Virginia Supreme Court. Mr. Ackerman has successfully represented individuals with motor vehicle, unsafe premises, dog bite and other negligence claims. He has obtained settlements in excess of one million dollars for the spouses and children of wrongful death victims.

Mr. Ackerman has successfully represented injured workers at hearings in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. He has lectured on workers' compensation topics for the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers. His article comparing the workers' compensation laws of Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Maryland has been published in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Journal. Memberships include the D.C. Trial Lawyers Association, D.C. Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
