June 21, 2011
TV 11 News reports that police and the state attorney’s office are investigating a hit-and-run accident that claimed the lives of two teenage girls in Baltimore, Maryland. The accident occurred around midnight on Monday of last week at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and West Pratt Street. The girls, who were 16 and 17-years-old, were crossing the street as they walked home, when the driver of a Lincoln sedan cruised through the intersection and struck the girls, leaving them for dead in the middle of the road. The teens were transported to Shock Trauma, where they were later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Lincoln was later stopped by a Maryland Transportation Authority police officer for a non-related traffic violation. The officer noticed fresh damage on the vehicle and immediately contacted Baltimore police detectives. Authorities questioned the driver and a passenger, but released them. Charges may be brought against the pair later.
